MetaTrader Policy Changes: How Traders and Propfirms respond to these changes
DXtrade Copier will be supported soon!

Hello traders! The year 2024 has been quite a roller coaster ride as we navigate the changes in the trading industry. One of the major updates was the policy changes by MetaTrader, one of the biggest names and probably the first platform you can think of when it comes to trading. They recently implemented policy changes that impact how brokers and clients access their platforms.
It’s due to the regulations and compliance surrounding platform trading
MetaTrader is not implementing these changes just because they want to. These changes were driven by increased regulatory scrutiny, especially from U.S. bodies who have raised concerns around the offering of Contracts for Difference (CFDs) by MetaTrader to U.S. traders, which is prohibited.
As a result, MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platforms are facing more restrictions, particularly for U.S.-based traders. You can just imagine how big of a change they need to implement with their infrastructure to make this adjustment. It must be an infrastructure nightmare.
How is this affecting Brokers, Propfirms, and Traders using their Platform?
Non-U.S. customers, particularly in Europe, were not affected. MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 are still being widely used in these countries.
However, US-based prop firms, brokers, and traders, unfortunately, are forced to seek alternative solutions. This shift is causing disruptions for traders who depend on MetaTrader’s powerful features, like automated trading with Expert Advisors (EAs) as well as those traders who are accustomed to using the platform for all their trading activities.
Two of the most notable alternatives since the shift are cTrader and DXtrade. They both offer decent user interfaces that many are starting to like. Most of the traders we asked responded that they miss the customization they can do with MetaTrader, which they have relied on for a long time.
cTrader and DXtrade: The go-to Alternatives
cTrader has emerged as a popular alternative because it offers many of the same features traders appreciated in MetaTrader, such as advanced charting and tools for both manual and algorithmic trading. It also has a cleaner, more intuitive interface, which can make things easier for both novice and experienced traders. Most importantly, cTrader complies with U.S. regulations, making it a safer option for firms that need to avoid the legal headaches associated with MetaTrader's issues around CFDs.
On the other hand, DXtrade is also becoming a go-to platform. It's known for its flexibility and customization, allowing brokers to tailor the platform to their needs. It's designed with compliance in mind, particularly in markets with tighter regulatory requirements like the U.S.
And good news for you all! We support both of them... and we're planning to add more emerging go-to alternatives such as Tradovate/NinjaTrader, and more! Our team is doing our best to support you all but at the same time, we want to make sure we are prepared for these updates.
