Best Practices for Keeping Your Trade Copier Secure with Duplikium
Online perpetrators are serious, should you. Keep your accounts secure at all times.

Keeping your online accounts safe is super important. With the rise of cybercrime, it’s important to take proactive steps to protect your account. If you're using a service like Duplikium or even any service out there that deals with financial trading and sensitive data, the stakes are even higher. Don’t worry, though; We’ve got you covered!
Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
One of the first things you should do when setting up your Duplikium account is to enable two-factor authentication (2FA). 2FA adds an extra layer of security by requiring not only your password but also a secondary form of verification. This means that even if someone manages to get a hold of your password, they won’t be able to access your account without the second form of authentication.
There are two common methods to enable 2FA:
1.) By Email: You receive a code via email every time you log in. It’s one of the classic security options out there. It’s simple and easy. No complicated set up. Just remember though to keep your email account secure.
2.) Authenticator App: Apps like Google Authenticator or Authy generate time-sensitive codes. For Duplikium, we use Google Authenticator which is one of the most used authenticator in the market.
Use Strong, Unique Passwords
No matter how robust your 2FA is, you still need a strong password as your first line of defense. Creating a unique password for your Duplikium account will prevent hackers from exploiting reused credentials from other sites. Here’s a quick guide on what makes a good password:
1.) Length matters: Aim for at least 12-16 characters.
2.) Mix it up: Use a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols.
3.) Avoid common words and phrases: Don’t use obvious words like “password123” or personal details like your birthday.
4.) Consider a passphrase: A random phrase like “BlueApple!JumpsQuick7” can be easier to remember and is often more secure than a jumble of characters.
Use a password manager like LastPass or 1Password to generate and store complex passwords, so you don’t have to remember them all. Using the same password across all your accounts, is NO.. NO! Don’t make it easy for perpetrators to access your accounts.
Generate and Store Backup Codes
Now that you’ve got 2FA enabled and a strong password in place, it’s important to think about what happens if you lose access to your 2FA method. For example, if you change your phone or lose it, you could get locked out of your Duplikium account. This is where backup codes come in. Backup codes are one-time-use codes that let you bypass 2FA if you can’t access your authenticator app or phone. When you enable 2FA on Duplikium, the platform should give you the option to generate backup codes. Steps for using backup codes:
1.) Generate your backup codes immediately after setting up 2FA.
2.) Store them in a safe place, such as a secure file on your computer, an encrypted cloud service, or a physical location like a safe.
3.) Make sure you don’t share these codes with anyone!
If you use a password manager, some of them also allow you to store backup codes securely for easy access.
Consider Using a YubiKey or Other Security Key
If you want to take your account security to the next level, consider using a hardware security key like a YubiKey. A YubiKey is a small physical device that you insert into your computer’s USB port (or connect via NFC on mobile devices) to verify your identity. It provides an additional layer of security and is considered one of the safest ways to protect your account. Here’s why security keys are awesome:
1.) Phishing-resistant: Security keys ensure that only you can log in, even if a hacker tricks you into entering your credentials on a fake site.
2.) No need for codes: Once registered, you simply plug in your YubiKey when prompted during login. No need to enter a code, making it both secure and convenient.
3.) Universal compatibility: Most security keys work with a wide range of services, including Duplikium, Google, Facebook, and more.
Keep in mind that you should still have backup codes stored somewhere safe, in case you lose your YubiKey.
Strategies Be Wary of Phishing Attacks
Phishing attacks remain one of the most common ways that hackers gain access to accounts. In a phishing attack, a hacker tries to trick you into providing your login credentials by sending you a fake email or message that looks like it’s from a legitimate company, like Duplikium. To avoid falling victim to phishing:
1.) Check the sender’s email address: Look for misspellings or suspicious domains.
2.) Hover over links before clicking to see where they actually lead.
3.) Never share your password or 2FA codes: Duplikium will never ask for your password or authentication codes through email or message.
Keep Your Devices Secure
All the account security in the world won’t matter if your devices aren’t secure. Make sure the devices you use to access Duplikium are protected:
1.) Keep software up to date: Regularly update your operating system, browser, and any security software to protect against vulnerabilities. 3.) Secure your devices: Use strong passwords or biometric authentication (fingerprint, face recognition) on your computers and phones. Avoid using public or unsecured Wi-Fi when accessing your account.
Stay vigilant, keep your devices secure, and always be on the lookout for phishing attempts.
